Tips For Restoring Damaged Photos

4/11/2020 (Permalink)

Sometimes our valuable belongings can be affected by water damage. When precious photos become wet, this can cause some panic. The initial reaction tends to be that they are completely ruined, but this is not the case!

Mold will start to grow within 72 hours of contact with water so you will have to act fast. The ideal scenario is that you are able to air dry photos with some sort of fan or blowdryer. If this is not possible, you'll want to freeze the photos instead.

If there are any photos inside glass or metal frames, remove them before placing them in the freezer. Before you start freezing the photos, make sure to put waxed paper between each photograph. This will help ensure they don’t stick together.

Knowing what to do when valuables get damaged is important to salvaging them!
